Ingredients

  • Torte Base:
  • 200 g 7 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher)
  • ½ cup coconut oil melted
  • ¾ cup coconut sugar or raw cane sugar
  • 4 large eggs separated
  • Zest of 1 orange 1 lemon, and ½ lime
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional Garnish:
  • Shaved dark chocolate
  • Candied citrus zest spirals
  • Toasted coconut flakes
  • Crushed pistachios or almonds
  • Edible flowers violets, marigolds, or nasturtiums
  • Herbal Infusion:
  • 1 tsp dried passionflower
  • 1 tsp dried chamomile flowers
  • 1 cup hot water not boiling — ~90°C / 195°F
  • Optional 1 small piece dried orange peel or 1–2 dried rose petals
  • Elixir Base:
  • ½ cup coconut milk or oat/almond milk
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 –2 tsp honey maple syrup, or date syrup
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Pinch of nutmeg or saffron optional, for deeper warmth

Instructions

  • Make the Base:
  • In a small saucepan, combine water, mushroom powders (or tea), cacao, and spices.
  • Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes to activate and blend flavors.
  • Add Milk & Flavor:
  • Stir in almond milk, vanilla, and sweetener.
  • Whisk until hot and frothy (do not boil).
  • Blend for Creaminess (Optional):
  • Transfer to a blender and add coconut/MCT oil.
  • Blend 20–30 seconds until silky and foamy.
  • Serve:
  • Pour into warm mugs.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of cacao and cinnamon, or a star anise for presentation.
  • Steep the Herbs:
  • In a teapot or heatproof jar, steep passionflower, chamomile, and any optional herbs in 1 cup hot water for 10–15 minutes, covered.
  • Strain and set aside.
  • Warm the Elixir Base:
  • In a small saucepan, gently heat coconut milk with cardamom, sweetener, vanilla, and salt (do not boil).
  • Add nutmeg or saffron if using.
  • Combine:
  • Mix strained herbal tea with the warmed coconut milk mixture.
  • Whisk or blend until frothy (hand frother or blender works great).
  • Serve:
  • Pour into your favorite ceramic cup or mug.
  • Garnish with a dusting of cardamom or a few dried chamomile petals or edible flowers for beauty.
