Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a boil.
Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente.
Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
Sauté the Garlic
While the pasta cooks, melt the butter with the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
Reduce the Wine
Pour in the white wine.
Simmer for 4–5 minutes, allowing it to reduce by about half.
Make the Sauce
Reduce heat to low.
Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
Whisk until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth.
Combine
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet.
Toss gently until evenly coated.
If needed, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
Stir in the parsley, basil, and optional lemon zest.
Serve
Serve immediately with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs.
