Tri-Color Swirled Frosting

Materials Needed:

  • Whipped cream frosting or buttercream frosting
  • Gel food dye (2 colors of your choice)
  • Butter knives
  • Frosting bag
  • 1M open star tip

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Frosting:
  • Begin by preparing your frosting according to your recipe or instructions.
  1. Fit the Frosting Bag:
  • Assemble your frosting bag and attach the 1M open star tip.
  1. Create Color Stripes:
  • Using a butter knife, take a small amount of one of the gel food dyes and, starting at the frosting tip, gently slide the knife upward towards the end of the decorating bag. This will result in a vertical stripe of food coloring along one side of the decorating bag.
  1. Repeat with the Second Color:
  • Repeat the same process with the second color of gel food dye, creating another vertical stripe on the opposite side as the first one. Now, your decorating bag should have two colorful stripes running vertically along its sides.
  1. Fill with White Frosting:
  • Carefully place the white frosting into the frosting bag, taking care not to press the bag too tightly or allow the colors to mix.
  1. Test the Appearance:
  • Before decorating your dessert, it’s a good idea to pipe out a swirl onto a spoon to check the appearance. If the colors are slightly mixed or uneven, repeat the process. Once you’re satisfied with the look, you’re ready to have fun decorating your desserts.
