- Activate yeast: In a large bowl, mix warm milk, honey, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix dough: Stir in egg, butter, salt, and whole wheat flour. Gradually add all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Cover and let dough rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled.
- Shape and bake: Divide into 12 balls, place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a greased dish. Bake at 375°F for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Whip the butter: Using a mixer or whisk, beat softened butter, honey, and a pinch of salt until fluffy.
