Ingredients

  • 2 tsp dried Skullcap or 1 heaping tbsp fresh if available
  • 1- inch piece of fresh ginger root sliced
  • 1 stalk fresh lemongrass smashed (or 1 tsp dried) (optional but highly recommended)
  • 1 tsp dried orange peel or fresh zest from 1/4 orange
  • 1 –2 cups hot water not boiling – around 90°C / 195°F
  • Raw honey or date syrup to taste (optional)
  • Slice of fresh lemon or lime for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the Herbs: In a teapot, heatproof jar, or French press, add skullcap, ginger slices, lemongrass, and orange peel.
  • Add Hot Water: Pour in 1.5–2 cups of hot (not boiling) water. Cover with a lid or plate to keep the volatile oils in.
  • Steep: Let steep for 10–15 minutes. The longer you steep, the more earthy and intense the flavor will become.
  • Strain & Serve: Strain into your favorite mug. Add honey or date syrup if desired, and garnish with a slice of lemon or lime.
  • Sip Slowly: Drink warm, ideally in the evening or after a stressful day. Pairs wonderfully with meditation or journaling time.
